Buying the election

Is it right to buy an election? After reading how much Obama has spent on ads vs the amount the McCain has spent, makes me wonder if we are now at a point in our Country that it comes down to the one with the most money as well as being able to speak well in public? ( I have to give Obama credits for his public speaking)

Whatever happened to the issues? Seems to me that the average Joe, only cares about how things will affect him/her.
Few people I have spoken to can give me some real hard facts about Obama’s plan. We all read about how he wants to spend 1.5 trillion dollars on new Federal programs. One thing few point out is that it’s over 10 years. Once again I am trying to be fair.
However with the debt that we are now in, is it wise to spend more money that we don’t have? Not to mention we have no idea who’s paying for this, it can only mean more taxes for the middle class, just like Bill Clinton’s “tax cuts”.

What bothers me the most is Obama said he would take public money, and then changed his mind. He is the first person runing for President who has turned down public money  since Watergate. The point of public financing, which comes from the $3 checkoff on individual tax returns — is to
limit the outsize influence big donors can have once a candidate
becomes President.

The amount of money that public funds provide is 85 million apiece for the General election race. They must swear off private money in order to get this.

Since Obama had a great run collecting donations for his run, he decided to keep going with private money. Which is why he is able to buy more ads then McCain. This bothers me since we are now have a man running for President who is using a media barrage as well as a advertisement barrage to try to get elected. When you see something over and over again, even if you know it’s not true, you start to doubt yourself. Why do you think the beer ads always show a Pretty women with whatever beer they are trying to sell?

If Obama is elected it will be a sad day in American History, since it will be the first election in a long time that money has bought the Office of President.

Just thoughts from a sick mind :)Technorati Tags: , , , ,

Stop Drinking Alcohol

Great minds must think alike or the fact that his name is Patrick, may be it. However you wish to look at it, he has hit the nail on the head.

I strongly urge you to hit his web site and read some more of what He has to offer.

 http://www.spiritualriver.com/stop-drinking/

Patrick Meninga

“Stop Drinking Alcohol”;
Many people are struggling with alcohol problems and want to know how to stop drinking. Of course the problem is not stopping but in staying stopped. Recovery is divided into two stages and you need different information for getting through both early recovery and also long term sobriety.

In early sobriety we struggle just to get another day clean. We might struggle to stay sober for a 24 hour period and in order to make it through this tough time we might have to focus on networking and getting help from the fellowship. Now this is alright but as we move into long term sobriety, those who are successful in staying sober will notice that they start to focus more on personal growth. Now this doesn’t mean that you are one day cured of alcoholism or that you never need to network with others, but only that your priority should shift towards personal growth. Recovery is fueled by passion and purpose and the striving for personal growth, whereas early recovery is more about learning and networking with others. Both stages have all of these attributes in them, but the focus is a bit different for those who are successful in living a sober life.

So how can you stop drinking? My first suggestion is that you do so in a medically supervised facility. This is important because stopping drinking can literally kill you if you are not careful. There is also the added bonus that if you go to a treatment center to detox then you will also receive a ton of support from doing so. The networking that you get from your peers in early recovery is of vital importance, and going to a treatment center will automatically introduce you to these types of connections. Because of these 2 reasons I highly recommend attending a treatment center if you are serious about quitting drinking.

Now at this point many people think that their job is done when they walk out of the treatment center but in fact it has not even started yet. The real challenge in recovery is in living your life sober without resorting back to resentment and anger and eventually relapsing. It is not always the drinking that got us in trouble but also the lifestyle itself. If you leave rehab and try to stay sober but go back to the same old lifestyle then you are going to have problems. We need to make big, structural changes in our lives if we are to maintain long term sobriety. This is not impossible but it does require action.

So many people who leave treatment do not follow up with the action required to stay sober. If you want to make recovery work for you then you need to approach it with overwhelming force. We put a lot of effort into our drinking and we need to put just as much, if not more, into our recovery. Nearly everyone overestimates their ability to stay sober at first. The secret is to go way above and beyond what you think is necessary to keep you clean.

And that is the bottom line right there: If you want to stop drinking then you have to take action. At first your actions will be very specific and focus on getting you detoxed and learning how to live a sober life. But as time goes on in recovery your actions must shift towards those of personal growth and development. In early recovery your networking and support from others is critical. In long term sobriety your drive for personal growth and holistic health is what is key.

Progressive MLM Marketing Strategies For The New Age Business Builder

While I am not a big fan of MLM Jason O. gives those who are fans some great tips.

By: Jason OToole

Credit where credit is due: old school Network and MLM Marketing

, with all the gentle pestering of family, friends, and milkmen, got one thing right:It separated the wheat from the chaff and got us all working on polishing up on the sticking points in our game so that we could face a tough world with a stiff, smiling upper lip.Network and MLM marketing was in effect concerned principally with damage control and sipping from a glass half-full.

Times have changed for the better, what with the attraction based approach to the network and MLM marketing industry, but now, like then, the cream of the crop keep giving their 110% toward self improvement and diligently keep an eye out for the next opportunity- both personal and professional.

Ask me what plan will take you to the top, no matter who you are in general - I don’t hesitate: it’s all about prioritizing.

Ok, but what are we actually talking about here?

It means you are clear on your intentions and align your being and actions to serve them..

You don’t usually achieve success at the game of life by living unconsciously. If you want success, you’ll need a map and the means to navigate the territory - to own it and calibrate your trajectory every step of the way.

Success also demands that you keep your head above the surf - literally. MLM Marketing is not easy! Be careful when it comes to these so called tested formulas for Attraction Marketing you find on the internet - There are alot of fly by night “gurus” out there. Spend time instead modeling what the industry leaders are doing. What makes the winners tick? Don’t be left eating dust. And if you still don’t think Attraction MLM marketing works, ask my team of over 7000 members …

Let me explain…

Attraction based marketing is a philosophy you can learn. Much more than a technique, consider it the alpha and omega of life, the universe, and everything. No question, Attraction Marketing will take you to the promise land of network marketing. It’s time to stop learning to be a guidance shrink and a specialist at managing depression. It’s time to attract the enthusiastic, the wanting, and those with the yearning to build a home business with you. Right now I have a flooded inbox of leads requesting a callback as well as voice box crammed with people wanting to enroll with me - this is the mind space you need to be in.

Without question our industry is changing for the better. Attraction marketing is the new next generation for home business owners.

With this technique of mlm marketing there is no pouncing on prospects with marketing like in the past. By marketing in this fashion, without question you’ll see a 180 in the business builders you surround yourself with.

This is what the top earners are focused on, so ask yourself constantly: “what am I going to do about it?” How can you do it better than them? How much blood sweat and tears am I willing to sacrifice? With posture like this, anything is possible in business. Focus your MLM marketing efforts on what works and do not do what everybody else is doing just because they say so.

Attraction marketing is about you, developing you and marketing yourself as opposed to most network and MLM marketing strategies that teach you to bang down the doors of your family and friends to sell your product or opportunity.

Success is in the end not about getting what you deserve but being paid what the energies you project are qualified to connect with. Practice the correct fundamentals, observe, absorb, and emit a winning vibe - model, reflect, and persist - and success is yours.

Your diagnostic tool for gauging success along the way is ultimately a list of operational priorities to which you intelligently adhere.

You owe it to yourself to commit at this level.

Domestic Violence Prevention Is the Cure

I read a lot, and have tried to stay current on most things. I have not read to much about Prevention of Domestic Violence, while I am no expert Dr.King seems to point out what I would call some good common sense.

 By: Dr Jeanne King PhD

There are as many variations on this story as there are people living it. Yet there are a few common themes that present in most renditions of established intimate partner violence.

These are:

a) There may very well be a price when you leave.

b) Getting to that point will likely involve a lot of back and forth

c) Once on the other side of domestic violence, the survivor will feel free, at peace and whole again.

The operative word here is “established.” There is a hugh difference between rubbing shoulders with a condition and having it as the wall-paper of your life.

Before the domestic abuse becomes “established” as the relationship interaction MO, there are warning signs, important signals and with that more possibilities.

It is for this reason that we believe the absolute best point of intervention is prevention. Nip it in the bud BEFORE it becomes “established.”

Learn the signs of the enigma, before you become a part of it. That is while you can see it objectively, as something outside of yourself rather than as part of you, your patient or your loved one.

How then do we inspire, implement and employ prevention as the cure?

EDUCATION is the key word along with its kin: awareness, information, early detection, formal adolescent curricula education and healthcare provider training.

Whatever you can do whether you are 13 or 63, your job in domestic abuse prevention is your own education or the education of your offspring and their offspring.

Do not wait for the police to police for harmony in your home or the home of your loved ones. Because once they come knocking at the door, much of the damage is underway.

The way to stop this condition from being “established” is the same way we help people avoid “crack.” We speak to our young about the horror of drugs and how they are illegal and how they can ultimately destroy you. And the net result of these lessons is less young people walk the road of drug abuse.

The same can be true for domestic violence. If we teach our young about this condition: its early signs; its place in the legal system; and its ultimate consequences with long-term use/involvement, then we prevent the enigma from being a part of our lives.

If you are a parent, a teacher or a healthcare provider, be a mentor on domestic abuse prevention just as you mentor drug abuse prevention. If you are the student, listen and learn so you know what to look for and how to avoid established intimate partner violence.

Of Course with most of the repost that I do the Authors are trying to sell or give something away, I have no problem with that and always include the link. After all they took the time to write something that I found interesting that could really save someones life.

Valentines Day ?

Where did Valentines day come from?

The roots of St. Valentine’s Day lie in the ancient Roman festival of Lupercalia, which was celebrated on Feb. 15. For 800 years the Romans had dedicated this day to the god Lupercus. On Lupercalia, a young man would draw the name of a young woman in a lottery and would then keep the woman as a sexual companion for the year.

http://www.americancatholic.org/Features/ValentinesDay/origins.asp

There was also a conventional belief in Europe during the Middle Ages that birds chose their partners in the middle of February. Thus the day was dedicated to love, and people observed it by writing love letters and sending small gifts to their beloved. Legend has it that Charles, duke of Orleans, sent the first real Valentine card to his wife in 1415, when he was imprisoned in the Tower of London. (He, however, was not beheaded, and died a half-century later of old age.)

Some say that he was a Priest living in Rome, who married Christians even though it was against Roman laws.  They claim he healed his Jailers daughters eye sight, and the night before he was executed, he wrote a note, and signed it your Valentine.

There are other beliefs of how Valentines day came about, there are those that believe that this was promoted for commercial reasons.

After all, should not everyday be Valentines day?

Government Bailouts…The Wrong Approach

Mr.Thomas sums up the real truth about these bailouts. It’s a sad day in our country’s history today with the senate passing the “new bailout bill”

by William J Thomas

One of the infamous lines from the Great Depression, “Hey Buddy, Can You Spare a Dime”, has taken on a whole new perspective in these trying financial times as millionaires go running to the government will their hands out looking for some government bailout funds. What started with the government trying to save the money managers on Wall Street has evolved into a free for all with practically everyone wanting a cut of the government bailout loot. While many so called experts declare that the bailout is necessary to save the economy, the facts point to the contrary.

It’s been said by many so called experts that FDR’s ‘New Deal’ pulled America out of the throes of the ‘Great Depression’ when the truth is that it wasn’t Roosevelt’s grand plan that did the trick, but World War 2 that was the engine that got things moving again. As shown by Llewellyn H. Rockwell in his recent column called ‘How This Happened’,

” Economic growth went nowhere between 1933 and 1939, with real gross domestic product per adult still 27 percent below trend at the end. Per capita GDP was lower in 1939 than in 1929. Unemployment was at 17.2 percent in 1939. This was actually higher than it was in 1931. This is despite a 100 percent increases in monetary expansion. Taxes had tripled. Employing people became ever more expensive due to unions and national income guarantees”.

While I’m not advocating another world conflict to get things going, the point is that it wasn’t FDR’s job programs or the creation of money out of thin air through the printing presses that pulled America from the depths of the depression, but the cranking up of the war economy and the rebuilding that came afterwards with America left standing as the major economic power capable of producing the products that the rest of the world needed to rebuild, that created the boom.

Bailouts aren’t bad for everyone. It allows and rewards businesses that otherwise couldn’t compete and therfore allows them to remain in business where they otherwise couldn’t. If we truly had a ‘free’ market system, the markets would weed out the inefficient and incompetent by allowing them to fail, leaving the more productive and innovative companies to provide the products and services we as consumers desire and need.

Much of the same can be said for the multitude of homeowners that the government is trying to save from foreclosure. The immoral aspect of the government’s actions is that diligent homeowners will by punished by being asked to subsidize those that made terrible financial decisions such as buying houses they really couldn’t afford. In both cases, the government is stepping in to alter the normal business cycle that would weed out the inefficient and unwise.

The end result of these numerous bailouts is that individuals and businesses that in a free society should be ‘punished’ for their imprudence are instead rewarded. These actions can only produce disastrous results for society at large. Not only does it create market distortions and misallocations, but sends the wrong message as well. For if there is no price to paid for failure, then society quickly evolves into a free for all with businesses and people taking unwarranted risks trying to get their share of the loot knowing that there is ‘NO’ price to paid because there is someone ready to bail them out.

What we really need

First and foremost we need the Federal Government to stop trying to do all things for the Citizens of the USA.

Second we need to stop any type of bailout or stimulus packages, other than Social Security, Health Care for Children and the elderly; we need to stop with the Federal Government hand out programs. I understand the Federal Governments desire to help the citizens, (really to get reelected)   however this practice needs to stop. The Federal Government needs to pay back Social Security the money it has taken out of that program.

The third thing we need to do is increase our military, not by the number of tanks, planes or choppers, sure we need those things, but what we need is more men trained to fight the type of wars we will face in the 21st Century. While huge tank battles are not out of the question, most of our fighting will be done by the Special Forces groups and your basic infantry or airborne soldiers. If we get into WW3 with Russia or China, we will need the planes, tanks and choppers so we cannot just stop buying them. Nor can we neglect the training of those forces. Our Air Assets are very valuable however it always has taken boots on the ground in order to defeat an enemy. We also need to increase the size of our Navy, both in members as well as ships. (I am no military expert, so keep in mind that there are those far smarter than I who should be given the green light to develop what they feel we need)

Fourth thing that we need to do is have the Federal Government go back to the Constitution, this means staying out of the local politics as well as staying away from making laws that should be state issues.

Fifth thing that we need done is for the tax system to be fixed. Unless we get a handle on this it will only get worse. The filing for taxes should be so easy that anyone can fill out the paper work and get it right. We should move to a fair or national tax program.

Sixth thing we need to do is increase our intelligence agency’s size and budget, we need humans on the ground like we had back in the 60’s and 70’s.

I know there are other things we need to do, like securing the borders and ports, and those should be in the process of being done. However for some odd reason, they are being ignored.

The Government needs to stay out of businesses and markets. Sure regulate them to a degree but don’t pass out money to those that are failing, they are failing because of something they did or did not do. It’s not the citizen’s fault nor is it our problem. Sure we may feel the effects, but better to get it over with than to keep putting band aids on it, and to keep having the Feds dig us more into debt.

The last thing I will say is we cannot be the world’s police force, should we help? Sure! But should our men and women who are serving take the majority of the risks? No!  I understand that we are thought of as a rich nation, but the reality is we are so far in debt that we can no longer afford to try to be the world’s police force. Maybe forcing the U.N. To contract with one or more of the P.M.C. they would think long and hard before putting in peace keepers, since it would cost them a bundle to use those forces compared to using our Forces. By no means do I mean any disrespect to those Country’s that have men and women engaged in combat around the world. With that said I am an American Citizen and am only talking about America’s problems.

Herbs Galore

The common herb is basically any plant that is used whole or in part as an ingredient for a fragrance, for health purposes or simply as a an ingredient in flavoring your food.

Herbs can be steeped to make teas; to perk up cooked foods such as meats, vegetables, sauces, and soups; or to add flavor to your dips, vinegars, mustards and butters for added variety. Many herbs are grown simply for their fragrance and then used in potpourri, nosegays and sachets; or to scent perfumes, oils candles or bath water. And herbs have been used for many, many years for pain herbal remedies or for things like as herbal remedies for depression. More than 25% of our modern drugs today contain plant extracts as active ingredients, and researchers continue to isolate valuable new medicines from plants like herbs and confirm the benefits of those used by people over the years for medicinal purposes.

In the botanical sense, the common herb is simply a plant whose stem is soft and green and shows little growth of wood. It dies each winter to a perennial root system. But in the garden sense, herbs are plants that serve as a major source of seasonings in the preparation of foods. Then, in a broader sense, herbs also include those plants that are also useful for adding scents in cosmetics or for medicinal purposes. Then again, some of them are woody and go beyond the definition of the herbaceous plant.

Many people love the herbs so much that they decide to grow their own and use them as fresh as possible rather than staying with the dried variety. And the amazing thing is that herbs are very easy to grow, even for the novice gardener. All you have to do is make sure you have well drained soil, don’t use too much fertilizer and you’re good to go. Usually the largest problem is deciding what to choose from with a large variety of herbs available that you can grow. One important thing to remember though is that when you do plant your garden make sure it is as close as possible to the kitchen. I know it sound a little trite to say this but you would be surprised at how many herb gardeners plant their herbs all the way in the back of their garden and then when they need them ” find it is just “too far” to walk to harvest. Put them right at your back door instead. You could even grow the ones you would use most often in a handy window sill container if need be, but grow the ones you’ll use the most, right where it is easiest to harvest them. Remember, it is not easy to leave heated cooking utensils and stoves for even the five minutes it takes to get to the back of your garden.

Herbs can be used in so many ways. They definitely can make your food tastier but they also allow us to eat much healthier. Herbs have also been used as very powerful medicinal plants that have the potential to address many of your major health problems today as they’ve done for many, many people over the years. Just remember to consult a health adviser before starting any herbal treatments.

3 Tiny “Extras” That Automatically Improve Your Dinner Planning Process

By: Abby Lawal

Meal planning is a must if your goal is to provide healthy meals to your family. Everyone knows that healthy meal planning should be incorporated into every meal, but the reality is that we often don’t have the time to organize and prepare the recipe plan.

The last thing you want to do is go grocery shopping with the healthy eating pyramid in mind and then prepare two or more menus for the same meal simply to accommodate the likes and dislikes of family members.

Also, serving unpopular, healthy meals is usually counterproductive because family members will later eat sweets, chips, soda, ice cream with topping and other junk food in order to satisfy their craving for sugary treats.

The answer is to know the dislikes of your individual family members and if possible omit those from your menu planning. If that is not possible, compromise a little and serve a low-fat, low sugar treats with the meal, like a sugar free yogurt or applesauce.

Menu planning is a time consuming process that you might not be able to fit into a busy schedule. If that’s the case, think about a menu planning service to customize a four week menu plan that your whole family can enjoy.

To get started on your menu planning, let’s look at 3 areas that make the creative dinner planning process a little easier.

Strategy #1 - Grouping the Days

Grouping the days is first deciding which evening meal is going to be partial or total leftovers from the preceding three evening meals. For example, if you choose Saturday evening meal, plan Friday, Thursday and Wednesday with appropriate healthy meals.

The easiest way to do that planning is simply figure how much of the leftovers are going to be how much of the Saturday meal. Very easy, for example if you want 3 pork chops available on Saturday, Thursday cook the usual meal amount plus 3.

Strategy #2 - Meal Pattern Rotation

Menu rotation is a proven creative menu planning technique. The idea is to plan a good number of healthy meals for the family, for example: 14 days of meals and then repeat the meal plan cycle. You can add the number of days as your time permits.

Now think of yourself as the coach of a sports team. You have your basic plays and then you have new plays you want to add. You may have to put some new players on the field and take some players off the field. Here is the key: the coach does not get rid of the player taken off the field and you do not want to get rid of a meal removed from the rotation.

Two reasons, one is the main dish probably was liked by the family at some level, so it may just need to be tuned a little, and secondly, when you have accumulated a number of rotated items, you have at the least a set of weekly dinner menus. One option is to reshuffle all the menu ideas and prepare a new and expanded meal planner.

Strategy #3 - Appliance Timing Devices

Timed appliances are meal planning resources available to you and can open new options for dinner planning.

For instance, the microwave oven is not only for heating water, popping popcorn, and cooking frozen food. Fresh vegetables such as a casserole or a combo dish of sweet potatoes, apple slices all topped with cinnamon are two possibilities that cook quickly in a microwave.

A timed oven is perfect to cook a roast while you are away doing something entirely different than cooking. Likewise, a timed rotisserie is perfect for chicken, ribs or a small turkey.

A timed Crockpot can provide an option on meals such as pot roast, stews, soups and the like.

The fun of menu planning is that there is no right way or wrong way, as long as you provide your families with all the required daily nutrients.
