Goals

Goals

A lot of people want to write about how to reach your goals.
Some do a good job; others seem to think it’s all about making a list. As a
lifelong salesman I can tell you the easiest way to meet goals, is to start
small. It does not matter what your overall goal is, you must set goals you can
make each day, or week.

One example is when you’re trying to lose weight, set a goal
you can reach for the week. Say 2 pounds, this may not seem like a lot however
2 pounds a week is 104 pounds in a year. Setting your goal to 2 pounds a week
makes your mind feel that it’s reachable goal. If you were to set your goal at
104 pounds it would seem impossible. I say you’re mind, and people sometimes
look at me funny, however it’s your strongest asset and you’re strongest
weakness.

We can apply the same concept of goal setting with sales
calls. If you’re having problems meeting your sales quota, you can take a look
at what you’re doing, which in some case’s wastes more time, or you can set
some very easy goals for yourself. First goal is to see 10 potential customers
a day. Since this should be you’re bare minim.
Seeing those 10 will get you heading in the right direction that will
give you 50 new contacts a week. So Goal
1 would be 10 new contacts a day. That’s pretty easy and will give you some
confidence that you can meet your goals.
Now it’s important to understand that just hitting those 10 contacts a
day will not make you a lot of money, however it will get you started in the
right direction. Don’t forget to follow up on those new contacts! (Not writing
a how to sell)
